Water Main Replacement
How much does water main replacement cost?
Most domestic water main replacements are carried out at £90 per metre from the boundary stop valve to the internal stop valve. We provide a clear fixed price before work begins.
Will you dig up my driveway?
Usually not. We often use trenchless moling, which only requires small excavations at the boundary and entry point, helping protect driveways, patios and gardens.
Are you approved to carry out water main work?
Yes. We are WIAPS approved and Thames Water approved, and installations are carried out to current Water Regulations with certification provided on completion.
How long does a water main replacement take?
Most domestic replacements are completed within a day or two, depending on access, length of run and ground conditions.
Free Water Main MOT & Leak Check
What is included in the free Water Main MOT?
It is a non-invasive visual inspection of accessible pipework and water supply components, including basic leak indication checks, stop tap checks and general advice.
Is there any obligation if you find a problem?
No. If we identify an issue, we explain what we found, whether urgent action is needed and what the likely next steps are, with no obligation to proceed.
Who is the free Water Main MOT suitable for?
It is ideal for homeowners with poor pressure, rising water bills, older incoming supplies, suspected leaks or properties where the supply has never been properly checked.
Premium Water Main MOT Survey
What is the Premium Water Main MOT Survey?
It is a detailed paid inspection of the incoming water supply with digital pressure and flow testing, leak indicators, lead pipe assessment and a written PDF report.
Who is the premium survey for?
It is particularly useful for homebuyers, landlords, renovation projects and anyone who wants a more formal assessment with written findings and recommendations.
Do I receive a written report?
Yes. The premium survey includes a professional written PDF report with readings, photos, findings, risk notes and recommendations.
Air Source Heat Pump Soakaway Installation
Do all air source heat pumps need a soakaway?
Not always. It depends on the manufacturer, the model and the site layout. Some installations require a dedicated gravel soakaway while others may allow a different drainage arrangement.
Why does the soakaway need to be deep?
The depth is usually to help protect the discharge from freezing. Some manufacturer details require the condensate to discharge into a gravel bed below the frost line.
Can you cut through concrete or paving?
Yes. We can cut and remove concrete, paving or slabs to form the soakaway and reinstate the area afterwards where required.
Do you work for heat pump installers as well as homeowners?
Yes. We can work directly for homeowners or as a groundwork subcontractor for heat pump installation companies.
Boundary Box Leaks
Who is responsible for a boundary box leak?
Responsibility depends on exactly where the leak is located. We can investigate the issue and help determine whether it is likely to sit with the water authority or the property owner.
Can you investigate leaks around meter chambers and external stop taps?
Yes. We regularly investigate leaks associated with boundary boxes, external stop taps, communication pipes and meter chamber fittings.
Burst Water Main Repairs
What are the signs of a burst water main?
Common signs include sudden loss of pressure, unexplained wet ground, water pooling, unusually high consumption and visible flooding around the supply route.
Can you repair a burst main or does it always need replacing?
That depends on the condition of the existing pipe and where the failure is located. In some cases a repair is sensible; in others, replacement is the better long-term option.
Lead Pipe Replacement
Why replace a lead water pipe?
Lead pipes are outdated and can restrict flow, create reliability issues and raise concerns about water quality. Replacing them with modern MDPE improves performance and peace of mind.
Can replacing a lead pipe improve pressure?
Yes, especially where the existing lead supply is old, restricted or undersized compared with modern water demand.
Trenchless Moling
What is trenchless moling?
Moling is a no-dig installation method used to install new underground pipework with minimal surface disruption by creating a bore between small excavation points.
When is moling the best option?
It is often ideal where you need to cross gardens, paths or driveways without opening a full trench, subject to access and ground conditions.
Underground Leak Detection
How does underground leak detection work?
We use specialist methods such as acoustic testing, pressure testing and tracer gas where appropriate to narrow down the location of hidden underground leaks.
Can you detect leaks under concrete or hardstanding?
Yes. We can often investigate suspected leaks beneath concrete, paving and other hard surfaces without opening everything up first.
Do you always need to excavate to find the leak?
No. The aim is to identify the likely leak location first so excavation is only carried out where it is actually needed.
