These terms apply to the 25-year pipe-failure guarantee offered on qualifying water main replacement and installation work carried out by GC Maintenance.
25-Year Pipe-Failure Guarantee
1. Coverage. This guarantee covers any pipe supplied and installed by GC Maintenance that fails due to material or manufacturing defects within 25 years from the date of installation ("Guarantee Period"). It applies only to the pipe itself and not to fittings, valves or other components.
2. Exclusions. The guarantee does not cover:
- Failures caused by misuse, damage, accidental impact, frost, ground movement, subsidence, flooding or other environmental events;
- Alterations, repairs or connections made by anyone other than GC Maintenance;
- Any part of the existing water system that was not replaced by us;
- Cosmetic damage or minor leaks that do not result from pipe failure.
3. Conditions. The guarantee is valid only when:
- The pipe is installed by GC Maintenance in accordance with relevant regulations and industry standards;
- The customer notifies us in writing of any suspected failure within 14 days of discovery and allows us reasonable access to inspect and, if necessary, remove the failed pipe;
- The pipe has not been tampered with or modified after installation;
- The property has been adequately maintained and any issues such as ground movement, subsidence or water hammer have been addressed promptly.
4. Remedy. If a pipe is confirmed by GC Maintenance to have failed due to material or manufacturing defects within the Guarantee Period, we will supply and install a replacement pipe of equivalent specification at no cost to the customer. This shall be the customer’s sole remedy under this guarantee.
5. Limitations. GC Maintenance shall not be liable for:
- Consequential or incidental losses, including damage to decorations, fittings or loss of water supply;
- Costs of gaining access to buried or concealed pipework beyond reasonable excavation around the pipe;
- Any claim exceeding the original invoiced value of the work.
6. Transferability. This guarantee is provided to the original purchaser and is not transferable without the written consent of GC Maintenance.
7. Statutory rights. This guarantee is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
